This area has some stunning limestone scenery and a number of interesting caves. The route starts in Castleton, heading west from the village past Peak Cavern and Speedwell Cavern before coming to Winnats Pass. The route runs for a distance of about 5 miles with some challenging climbs on the way. After visiting the viewpoint at Lose Hill, it then drops down into the Hope Valley to call at the village of Castleton, home of the famous Blue John stone, before returning to Edale via another climb onto the 'Great Ridge' and the ancient hill fort of Mam Tor.
